when your on lexapro can you drink? How does drinking affect you when your on lexapro since the holidays are coming up I was just wondering, my family and I tend to drink a little more than usual, I just started taking lexapro as well what does anyone think of it that has taken it!

azflower25 replied: "I don't find any affects when I drink. I'm also on Lexapro. I don't drink alot, but when I do, I don't feel any different."

ME replied: "My boyfriend takes Lexapro and I take Celexa. Neither of us has experienced a reaction or anything from this. At most, they may increase the feeling of intoxication. You will be fine."

x-mas spirit replied: "once in awhile wont hurt , but not every day"

lindsaygirl84 replied: "My fiance takes Lexapro and didn't have any adverse side effects from drinking; however, drinking while taking Lexapro may add to the drowsiness caused with this medication. I work in a health profession and if you do drink (even if your underage), it's best to consult with your doctor before you drink. Medlineplus is a very useful website that helps put your medication into laymen's terms:"

jul's replied: "probley should'nt but that does'nt stop me."

NA replied: "Lexapro is an anti-depressant. Alcohol is a depressant. That is like adding -1 + 1 = 0. The effect of the anti-depressant is cancelled out by the alcohol. Usually the effect of the alcohol is stronger and it will produce a greater depressant effect. There are also toxicity problems, that is, the effect of the combination may cause any number of minor or major medical problems. Consult with the doctor that prescribed the Lexapro for you, but in general no one who is taking an anti-depressant should drink alcohol."

Dawn replied: "I'm taking Lexapro and haven't noticed ANY difference. But I'm very moderate in my consumption (6 pack of beer per month). Just remember - MODERATION."

Weight gain immediately AFTER weaning off Lexapro? I weaned off Lexapro over the span of about four weeks (this was according to my doctor's directions). I stopped taking the Lexapro altogether two weeks ago. As soon as I stopped it completely, I started feeling "fat" and noticed I had gained about 10lbs. (with, of course, a little more belly :-( Is it possible that the weight gain resulted from stopping the Lexapro, or did I just put on weight over the holidays?

etheesdad™ replied: "if you've never put on weight like that before its likely the lexapro. unfortunately, when drug companies research drugs, they publish the 'during effects' and not the 'after effects' of the drug. so I don't know that you'd find any large scale studies that would give you a definitive answer to your question. I wouldn't worry about it though, just like when you take a new drug, for some weeks or a couple of months there may be side-effects until your body gains its equilibrium, the same thing happens when you stop. it may take a few weeks, but then your metabolism will be back to normal and it will stop. In the mean time you could always take up smoking. its a great appetite supressant "
